More export cells to be set up for educating entrepreneurs

To spread the spirit of entrepreneurship more and more across Bengal, the State Government will set up more export cells in the districts. West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC, under the Commerce and Industries Department) and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department will take care of the export cells.

These cells would disseminate information among young entrepreneurs from far-flung areas on how to open start-up businesses and what procedures to follow to initiate a business. They will be set up at the district industry centres.

Representatives from Commerce & Industries and Departments would be there at the export cells to answer all queries from people interested in start-ups – queries on schemes, rules and regulations, loans, documentation, etc. The designated officers will be given training from time to time.

The officers will also examine the problems people in industry are facing. They will meet interested people from time to time and inform them on how to avail various benefits offered by the State Government.

Industry has been a thrust area for the Trinamool Congress Government. Bengal achieved an export growth of 11.18 per cent last year – the value of goods exported from the State increased from US$8.23 billion during financial year (FY) 2016-17 to US$9.15 billion during FY 2017-18. The Government has already set a target of doubling the export growth rate within 2021.
