New power line for the Sundarbans

A new 1.32 lakh volt power line is going to connect the Sundarbans to the rest of the State before the Pujas. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had specially given instruction for this and the State Power Department is all set to make it happen.
The construction of the infrastructure is complete. It cost more than Rs 60 crore. The 41.2-km line is supported by 166 towers.
The power line will benefit almost 15 lakh people across the blocks of Basanti, Gosaba, Canning-I, Canning-II, Kultali, Bhangar-II and Bhangar-II blocks. Vast areas in Baruipur and Canning subdivisions would also benefit from this high-voltage power line.
The main centre of this power line in Subhashgram in the district of North 24 Parganas was electrified recently. Also inaugurated or ‘çharged’ was the line in Sonakhali.
