Trinamool registers record victory in Maheshtala bypoll
Trinamool registered a record victory at the Maheshtala Assembly bypoll with the party nominee Dulal Das securing 1,04,818 votes after 21 rounds of counting.
The Trinamool candidate beat his nearest rival by a margin of over 62,000 votes. The win once again signified the victory of Mamata Banerjee’s ‘development and diversity’ model.
Reacting on the poll win, National President of Trinamool Youth Congress and MP, Abhishek Banerjee said, “This is a mandate in favour of development. People have voted for Trinamool. No one complained about any incidents of violence. Polling was done in the presence of central forces.”
He added, “This is the beginning of the end (for BJP). Karnataka was the ‘khunti pujo’ (ceremonial beginning of pandal construction for Durga Pujo). Mahalaya has begun with Maheshtala and the Dashami Visarjan (of BJP) will happen in 2019”.
