Saugata Roy asks a Question on subscribers of BSNL & MTNL

BSNL and MTNL are two government organisations in the telecom sector. Private companies have said that in 2017, market share of BSNL was mere 9.85% and MTNL’s market share was 7.12%.
BSNL incurred losses to the tune of Rs 4,786 crore and MTNL incurred losses to the tune of Rs 2,970 crore in 2016-17. Both the PSUs have been declared incipient sick as per the guidelines of the Department of Public Enterprises.
I want to ask the hon minister what steps are being taken to increase the market shares and reduce the losses of these companies, which are on the verge of closure.
