Kalyan Banerjee speaks on the proposed shifting of the head office of HSCL

FULL TRANSCRIPT

Thank you Madam, for giving a chance to speak. I am rising for the retention of the head office of Hindustan Steel Workers Construction Ltd at Kolkata.

Madam, Hindustan Steel Workers Construction Ltd (HSCL) is a Schedule B construction sector, which is under the Ministry of Steel; was incorporated in 1964. The head office is situated in Kolkata, with 26 offices in different States.

Madam, there are more than 100 contractual employees employed with HSCL. A decision has been taken that HSCL would merge with NBCCI Ltd. The decision of shifting the head office from Kolkata to Delhi has also been taken. More than 100 employees will lose their jobs because of this decision. HSCL has a  profit of Rs 38.5 crore.

Madam, through you, I make a request and appeal that the head office of HSCL should not be shifted from Kolkata to any other city. The entire infrastructure should remain in Kolkata.
