Bengal Govt to modernise and upgrade ESI hospitals
All ESI hospitals in Bengal are going to be modernised and upgraded by the State Government.
During the first phase of the project, five hospitals, comprising the ones in Maniktala in Kolkata, Budge Budge, Asansol, Serampore and Uluberia, are going to be modernised, with the setting up of intensive care units (ICU) and sick newborn care units (SNCU).
In the next phase, ICUs and SNCUs are going to be set up in all the other ESI hospitals.
At present, there are 14 ESI hospitals in Bengal – in Kamarhati, Sealdah, Serampore, Belur, Baltikuri, Uluberia, Kalyani, Gourhati, Budge Budge, Maniktala, Asansol, Bandel, Durgapur and Thakurpukur – with over 3,000 beds. The one in Manicktala is a referral and hence has the maximum number of beds (500). The ESI hospital in Belur functions exclusively as a tuberculosis (TB) hospital while the one in Sealdah has oncology and pain management units.
Those registered under the Employees State Insurance (ESI) Scheme can avail benefits at the ESI hospitals. The benefits are imparted through the Directorate of ESI (Medical Benefit) Scheme under the Labour Department.

রাজ্যের ইএসআই হাসপাতালগুলির আধুনিকীকরণ করবে রাজ্য সরকার। দু’পর্যায়ে হবে এই আধুনিকীকরণের কাজ।
প্রথম ধাপে, কলকাতা, বজবজ, আসানসোল, শ্রীরামপুর এবং উলুবেড়িয়ার হাসপাতালগুলির আধুনিকীকরণ করা হবে। চালু করা হবে আইসিউই ও এসএনএসইউ পরিষেবা। পরবর্তী ধাপে রাজ্যের বাকি ইএসআই হাসপাতালগুলির আধুনিকীকরণ করা হবে।
এই মুহূর্তে রাজ্যে ১৪টি ইএসআই হাসপাতাল আছে – কামারহাটি, শিয়ালদহ, শ্রীরামপুর, বেলুড়, বালটিকুড়ি, উলুবেড়িয়া, কল্যাণী, গৌরহাটি, বজবজ, মানিকতলা, আসানসোল, ব্যান্ডেল, দুর্গাপুর, ঠাকুরপুকুর। মোট বেডের সংখ্যা ৩০০০ এরও বেশি। মানিকতলার হাসপাতালটি রেফারাল হাসপাতাল তাই এখানে বেডের সংখ্যা সর্বাধিক (৫০০)। বেলুড়ের হাসপাতালটি টিবি রোগীদের জন্য, এবং শিয়ালদার হাসপাতালটিতে অন্কলোজি ও পেন ম্যানেজমেন্ট ইউনিট আছে।
Employees State Insurance (ESI) Scheme এ নথিভুক্ত কর্মচারীরা ইএসআই হাসপাতালের সুবিধাভোগ করতে পারেন। শ্রমদপ্তরের অন্তর্গত Directorate of ESI (Medical Benefit) Scheme এর মাধ্যমে পাওয়া যায় এই সুবিধাগুলি।
