Demonetisation: Mamata Banerjee meets President again, highlights people’s woes
Continuing her attack on the Modi government over demonetisation, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday met President Pranab Mukherjee again and apprised him about the “critical” condition prevailing in the country.
“Today I met the President. I had met him earlier also.We explained to him about the critical issue going on in the country (after demonetisation),” Mamata Banerjee said after meeting the President.
“We told him (the President) about the situation of labourers in the country. In our state, paddy labourers are not getting salary. Many shopkeepers, traders, even salaried employees, are not getting money. Last month, they got salary but this month they will not get any money. We cannot access the money in our accounts,” she said.
Trinamool will hold a public protest rally in Kolkata on November 28. On November 29, she will hold a rally in Lucknow. In December, she will visit Bihar and Punjab.

নোট বাতিল ইস্যুতে মোদী সরকারের তীব্র নিন্দার পাশাপাশি বৃহস্পতিবার রাষ্ট্রপতি প্রণব মুখ্যপাধ্যায়ের সঙ্গেও দেখা করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।
রাষ্ট্রপতির সঙ্গে দেখা করার পর মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় জানান, “আজ আমি রাষ্ট্রপতির সঙ্গে দেখা করেছি। আগেও আমি ওনার সঙ্গে দেখা করেছি। নোট বাতিলের এই হঠকারী সিদ্ধান্তের পর সারা দেশ জুড়ে যে জরুরী অবস্থা তৈরি হয়েছে সেকথা অনাকে জানিয়েছি”।
তিনি আরও বলেন, “আমরা ওনাকে (রাষ্ট্রপতি) দেশের শ্রমিকদের অবস্থা সম্পর্কে জানিয়েছি। আমাদের রাজ্যের কৃষকরা বেতন পাচ্ছেন না। অনেক দোকানদার, ব্যবসায়ী, এমনকি বেতনভুক কর্মচারী, টাকা পাচ্ছেন না।গত মাসে, তারা বেতন পেয়েছিলেন কিন্তু এই মাসে তারা কোনো টাকা পাবেন না ।”
আগামী ২৮ নভেম্বর কলকাতায় একটি প্রতিবাদ মিছিল করবে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস। ২৯ নভেম্বর তিনি লখনউতে সভা করবেন। আগামী ডিসেম্বর তিনি বিহার ও পাঞ্জাব যাবেন।
