Gatidhara adds numbers to the State’s transport
Under Gatidhara, the State offers assistance of a maximum of Rs 1 lakh, along with permits. Light goods vehicles, buses, mini buses, taxis, luxury taxis and even ambulances can be bought under the scheme.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sanctioned Rs 50 crore for the scheme. The fund was utilised in a little over two months. As of now, the assistance is paid to 4,256 people among the 5,317 applicants.
Most of the applications have been coming from Nadia district, followed by Bardhaman, North 24-Parganas, Purba Medinipur and Darjeeling.
Incidentally, the West Bengal Transport Department has now facilitated more frequent buses from Howrah and Sealdah stations.
Till now, the first buses used to start from the stations at 5 am. From March 1, bus services from the stations have been started at around 3 am.
Many people reach the stations from far-off places all through the night. With the Transport Department facilitating these new services, they would now not have to wait till the morning to start for their destinations.
To start with, buses would run along four routes from each of the two stations – to Park Street, Sector V, Park Circus and Kasba.
With the Gatidhara Scheme in place, small buses of private ownership are joining the transport fleet.
রাজ্যের পরিবহনে গতি আনছে “গতিধারা”
গতিধারা প্রকল্পের অধীনে প্রায় ১ লক্ষ টাকা পর্যন্ত সাহায্য করবে রাজ্য সরকার। বাস, মিনি বাস, ট্যাক্সি, এসি ট্যাক্সি এবং অ্যাম্বুলেন্সও কেনা যাবে এই প্রকল্পের আওতায়।
মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় প্রায় ৫০ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করেছেন এই প্রকল্পের জন্য। এই তহবিলের টাকা ২ মাস ধরে খুব অল্প কিছু কাজে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে। এখন পর্যন্ত ৫,৩১৭ জন আবেদনকারীদের মধ্যে ৪,২৫৬ জন মানুষকে সাহায্য করা হয়েছে।
আবেদনকারীদের মধ্যে বেশির ভাগ মানুষ এসেছেন নদিয়া জেলা থেকে, এছাড়া বাকিরা এসেছেন বর্ধমান, উত্তর ২৪ পরগনা, পূর্ব মেদিনীপুর এবং দারজিলিং থেকে।
যাত্রী সুবিধায় মাঝরাতেও এবার পাওয়া যাবে বাস পরিষেবা। রাত আড়াইটে থেকে শুরু হবে এই রাত্রিকালীন পরিষেবা।
হাওড়া ও শিয়ালদা স্টেশন থেকে একাধিক গন্তব্যের উদ্দেশ্যে যেমন- পার্ক স্ট্রিট, সেক্টর ফাইভ, পার্ক সার্কাস ও কসবা রওনা হবে বিভিন্ন সরকারি ও মিনিবাসগুলি। এই পরিষেবা চালু হবে ১লা মার্চ থেকে।
পরিবহণ সচিব আলাপন বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় জানান, “ আপাতত ৪টি রুটে এই পরিষেবা শুরু হবে, এর মাধ্যমে বহু মানুষ উপকৃত হবেন”।
