WB CM conducts her 90th administrative meeting at Chinsurah

West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee today chaired her 90th administrative meeting at Chinsurah to take stock of the developmental progress of the Hooghly district. She said that governance is a continuous process and these district tours help her interact with people.
WB CM announced that the government will set up a Centre of Excellence at Chinsurah in collaboration with the Government of Israel. “We have also given 5 acres of land for a new college at Chinsurah,” she added. “We are exploring the option of setting up an Agricultural University in Hooghly district,” WB CM said.
Answering queries of reporters, WB CM said she had asked Centre to increase the procurement of jute bags for government packages to save the jute industry.
Ruing the lack of banks in about 1000 gram panchayats in the State, she said that she had suggested to the Centre to convert post offices into banks. “How will we transfer wages for 100 Days’ Work scheme if there are no banks? We want Centre to turn post offices into banks,” she added.
