Trinamool Chief defines strategy for upcoming polls

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee laid out her strategy for the forthcoming Assembly elections in the state to party workers in Kolkata. The Railway Minister has divided the state into three zones —red, yellow and green — taking into consideration the political importance of the area as well as the security situation there. The coloured zones, according to the party, would help the cadres to work in a systematic way ahead of the crucial Assembly election due for early next year. The Red belt, predictably, is the area affected by the Left Wing Extremists. The Trinamool has made Red zone as the top priority of the party and has asked the party workers to begin trust-building exercise in the run-up of the polls. “Create anti-violence peace committees in all the district, blocks and sub-divisions that fall under the Red zone. We have to gain the confidence of the people living in these areas and bring them out of the constant terror in which they have been living. You all have to work very hard to meet this,†Ms. Banerjee told her cadres at the extended core committee meeting of the party.
