CM to meet the Prime Minister today
New Delhi, June 21: Ms. Mamata Banerjee made her first visit as the Chief Minister of West Bengal to the national capital on Monday. On the first day of her 3-day stay, she had a meeting with the Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee. There were several issues that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee discussed with the Union Finance Minister during the meet.
Discussed issues at a glance:
1.A financial package of 47,000 crore for the State to be spread over four years.
2.Special package of 500 crore for the State’s Jangal Mahal area to be spread over two years.
3.600 crore for the Darjeeling hills in a two year span.
4.An extra 14,000 crore for the current financial year.
5.A Special Audit of Expenditure in the state for current financial year by the Comptroller and Auditor General.
On her three-day trip to New Delhi, along with State Finance Minister Amit Mitra, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has a meeting scheduled with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday. After her meeting with the PM, she is to meet President Pratibha Patil. Before she leaves for Kolkata on Wednesday, the Chief Minister is to meet Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia.
