Chief Minister attends FICCI AGM in Delhi. Requests industrialists to invest in Bengal, says land will not be an issue
`Please do not compare West Bengal with other state since they did not inherit a huge debt from their predecessors like us. In spite, of all odds, Bengal is developing. We have taken various measures to improve the industry. I request you to invest in Bengal and be a partner in development process. Land will not be an issue` was the inspiring words of West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in New Delhi.
Speaking on this occasion, the Chief Minister said Bengal has enough business potentiality and would like to have more investment from outside Bengal too, `I want you to come and invest in Bengal. The state shares the borders with neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and is also the gateway to north eastern regions. I also assure you that nothing can stop the ongoing development process in Bengal and I am committed to the development`. The Chief Minister requested the industrialists to invest in the State.
`During my visit to the Sagar, a place in Bengal where the ashram of Kapil muni is situated, I found the place has immense opportunity for tourism. The place can be re-modeled into a fantastic tourism destination and have hotels and resorts. I am sorry to say that in last 35-years the previous government did nothing to nurture these prospects`, added the Chief Minister who also referred to the developments taken place in past few month across the Hills of Darjeeling. `We have developed the remote palaces in these places and I would like to mention a remote place called Lamahata in Darjeeling and today tourists are finding it difficult to seek accommodation. I welcome you to visit Bengal and invest in tourism sector which is flourishing and I assure you of all the cooperation. We have also taken another initiative in the Hills to develop the Tea Tourism`. The Chief Minister said Bengal is also taking initiative to develop eco tourism, `We will be soon going to have an eco tourism park at Rajarhat in Kolkata. We have taken an initiative to plant one-crore trees across the state in order to protect environment and spreads the Green message`.
The Chief Minister also apprised the industrialist of all the reforms and development measures taken in the past few months in Bengal like Employment Bank, Land Bank, `We have simplified the Industry Policy by minimizing the pages to seven from 99-pages. Apart from that we have taken initiatives like employment bank, land bank, Kisan Credit Cards, hundred days work, Nijo Bhumi Nijo Griho, `Pattas` to farmers`.
`The health condition was in shambles and after coming to power we have taken many initiatives. Bengal will soon have 37-super specialty hospitals. Once they start functioning the poor patients will not have to rush to other cities for treatment. These will be on the lines of AIIMS and Vellore hospitals`, said the Chief Minister.
`I was surprised to see that during the past 35-years the previous Government opened only one-university in the State and our Government during the past 557-days have taken an initiative to set up four-universities including an university exclusively for women`, she added.
The Chief Minister who is currently in New Delhi will be meeting 30-industry captains on Sunday and will attend an industry meeting scheduled on Monday. It may not be out of place to mention that back home in Kolkata before leaving for New Delhi the Chief Minister during a industry meeting said, `Bengal will lead India from Delhi.`
