Trinamool hits the streets to protest against smear campaign against party

Trinamool has hit the streets to protest against the smear campaign being run against the party.

Trinamool YUVA National President Abhishek Banerjee addressed a campaign rally for Chowringhee bypoll on Monday at 6 PM. The students' wing of the party, Trinamool Chhatra Parishad, along with the Youth wings of the party organised a rally from College Square till Esplanade today at 3 PM.

Secretary General of the party, Dr Partha Chatterjee Monday addressed a press conference and attacked the Opposition. He said that some BJP leaders, who are visiting the State from Delhi, are speaking without even thinking. “They know well they are going to lose the upcoming bypolls in Bengal, hence they are making such statements,” he added.

Saying that the media must play a constructive role in a democracy, he cautioned against biased reportage by some media houses. “Some news channels are only showing what others are sayingabout us. They are not showing our views,: Dr Chatterjee said.

“People of Bengal did not fall for the multi-crore adcampaign of BJP during Lok Sabha polls. The CPM leaders who are making anappearance on TV now must introspect on what they did for 34 years,” he said.

“A smear campaign has been started against Mamata Banerjeebecause she is working hard for the people of Bengal. People will be withMamata Banerjee despite the smear campaign because she is working for theprogress of Bengal,” he added.
