Saugata Roy makes Point of Order on difference in names of Ordinance and Bill on relaxing and amending certain taxation rules

Saugata Roy makes Point of Order on difference in names of Ordinance and Bill on relaxing and amending certain taxation rules

Sir, my Point of Order is under Rule 71 of the Rule of Procedure. Rule 71 mentions the rules for laying an Ordinance in the House, following which it is transformed into a Bill. Yesterday, an Ordinance was presented, it was opposed and then the Bill was presented. But read the title of the Ordinance: it says ‘The Taxation and Other Laws (Relaxation of  Certain  Provisions) Ordinance,  2020’. Now read the title of the Bill: it says ‘The Taxation and Other Laws (Relaxation and Amendment of Certain Provisions) Bill, 2020. So, dono alag hain, Ordinance ka naam ek hain aur Bill ka naam doosra hain <Chair intervenes>.

Thank you, Sir.
