Branch office of WB CMO to come up in Darjeeling Hills: WB CM

West Bengal Chief Minister Ms MamataBanerjee said she would set up a branch office of the CMO in Darjeeling Hillsto expedite administrative work for the people of the region.
“I have decidedto set up a small office in the Hills to be manned by an official from theChief Minister's Office (CMO),” Ms Banerjee, who is on a three-day visit toDarjeeling hills said in Kalimpong.
She said the office in Darjeeling wouldhelp in disbursing funds from the Chief Minister's Relief fund to the people ofthe hills, apart from providing other services.
“The Uttarkanyaoffice (secretariat in north Bengal) in Siliguri is functioning well and willcontinue,” she said. Ms Banerjee also announced that four hydel power unitswould come up in the region, while one medical college would be set up underthe PPP model in Kurseong.
The Chief Minister also chaired a meetingwith the representatives of the Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA). NorthBengal Development Minister Mr Gautam Deb was also present in the meeting.
Ms Banerjee said she would again be comingto the hills during the coming Durga Puja festival.
