Krishak Bandhu recipients’ data online to prevent middlemen

The State Government is taking various measures to ensure that middlemen have no role to play during its grain-buying activities. The government is taking the help of the list of farmers who are recipients of benefits under the Krishak Bandhu Scheme.
The list of farmers is being uploaded on to the scheme’s website by the Food Supplies Department. While buying grains, the government will tally the names of farmers from whom it is buying with this list of names.
The list will also contain the amount of land each farmer holds, and the maximum amount of grain per bigha that is possible to be grown in a district during a season would also be determined beforehand.
Combining these two information, the government would easily be able to determine if a farmer is trying to sell more grains than he has been able to grow and also if a farmer is trying to sell a part of their produce in one place and another part in another place.
According to State Government records, there are approximately 72 lakh farmers in Bangla, of which 40 lakh are Krishak Bandhu beneficiaries.
